THE NOISE OF LICKING by Nadja Andrasev as her diploma film at MOME Anim Budapest with the support of the Hungarian National Film Fund will be in competition in the Cinéfondation program presenting the best works produced by film schools from all around the world. 
The Cinéfondation Jury – headed by Japanese film director Naomi Kawase – gave the Joint Third Prize to Andrasev Nadja's film.

The main character of the 9-minute digital drawn animation, The Noise of Licking is watched every day by the neighbour’s cat, as she takes care of her exotic plants. Day by day the cat is lured further into her sensual world, until one night he disappears and their perverted ritual comes to an end. Time passes, the plants grow large and the woman lives her life in content isolation, until a peculiar man pays her a visit...

"My film was inspired by a short story written by Ádám Bodor, in which I was initially captivated by the absurd situation of an unexpected visitor silently watching a woman in her own living room as she is going about her day. Introducing another layer of voyeurism and sexuality to the original work, my aim was to capture an atmosphere in which we have a glimpse of the characters’ various ways of coping with loneliness, desire, sometimes self-destructing fetishes, and where at times it is difficult to differentiate between reality and imagination." – noted Nadja Andrasev, writer-director and production-designer.

The Noise of Licking was produced by the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest (MOME) with the support of the Hungarian National Film Fund. Producer of the film was József Fülöp, the editor Judit Czakó, and the sound designer Péter Benjámin Lukács. 
Earlier this year, The Noise of Licking was awarded Best Short Animation Prize 2016 by the Hungarian Film Critics. 
Following the Cannes premiere, The Noise of Licking will compete at Annecy, the most important festival of animation and Zagreb Animafest as well. 

Nadja Andrasev graduated at MOME Anim in 2015, participated in the Animation Sans Frontiéres (ASF) international animation workshop this year. She is presently developing her next film, while working as production manager on various animation films.

Cinéfondation, founded in 1998 by Cannes Film Festival, presented Hungarian diploma films by Kornél Mundruczó and Ágnes Kocsis among others. The Noise of Licking is the first Hungarian animation ever selected for the Cinéfondation.

MOME Anim is one of the defining creative workshops and intellectual centres of Hungarian animation. Its scope of activities cover the operation of the university department running the animation BA and MA educational programs, while its work is defined by activities that reach beyond education. Production activities are of key importance, talent management and content development set in an international network are of significant role: an important outcome is the creation and operation of incubator programs. The acquisition of research topics examining the contemporary issues related to animation film in regional, historical or other contexts is also part of the workshop’s life.

The Hungarian National Film Fund supports diploma films made at three Hungarian film schools, universities among them MOME Anim. The Fund’s support program aims offering the possibility of practice and experiment for young talents, and supporting the rising generation of Hungarian filmmakers.
