Bence Fliegauf, who showed his debut film Rengeteg at the Forum 13 years ago, returns to the programme with his new feature Liliom ösvény (Lily Lane). The relationship between Rebeka and her young son Danny is inextricably linked to stories and fantasy: the account of a childhood in which time and space flow together and little separates divorce, death and reunion.

To begin with, the camera glides over a miniature Lego city, as we hear a child humming in voiceover. Then we see a woman telling her son a fairy tale. Later, she chats with the child’s father on the computer. They’re talking about their separation, which she wants, but not on paper. In between, there are images from other times and situations: her rubbing lotion on to her heavily pregnant belly, stroking the unborn child or the image of a birch tree at night, its branches disappearing into the darkness. 

The woman and the son drive to her mother’s house on the edge of the city. Due to some unspecified illness, the mother hasn’t lived there for some time. Memories take shape in black-and-white photos. The fairy tale continues, between snapshots of the physical intimacy between mother and son, in the swimming pool, under the duvet. Then they’re off again, by car and by boat, this time seeking her father and her vanished childhood. This film is an associative expedition into self-constructed, fictitious and bygone worlds, in which each stream of consciousness flows into the other in perfect balance.

Bence Fliegauf is one of Hungary's most internationally-recognized young directors, his previous feature film, JUST THE WIND won the Berlinale Jury Grand Prix - Silver Bear, Amnesty International Film Prize and Peace Film Prize in 2012.
WOMB (2010), was in English-language and starred Eva Green (CASINO ROYALE, THE DREAMERS) and Matt Smith (BBC's "Dr. Who"). WOMB was the disturbing story of a woman who cannot escape the complexities of her decision to replicate her dead lover and raise him as her own child. WOMB was called "one of the most spectacularly handsome films of the year" by Screen International, and premiered at the 2010 Locarno Film Festival.
Fliegauf's 2007 feature MILKY WAY won Locarno's Golden Leopard for Filmmakers of the Present and Barcelona (L'Alternativa) Independent Film Festival's Feature Film Prize. DEALER won the Berliner Zeitung Audience Award at the 2004 Berlin Film Festival, as well as several Best Director prizes (Mar Del Plata, Wiesbaden, Lecce).
His debut feature FOREST won the Wolfgang Staudte Prize and Gene Moskowitz Critics Prize at the 2003 Berlin Film Festival. 
Bence Fliegauf was born in 1974 in Budapest. He never attended film school, instead working as an assistant director for television as he continued on the path toward directing, screenwriting, set design and sound engineering.

LOVE

"The English word LOVE is not really a word anymore. It’s used for so many different platforms and situations that its shape and the lines of its letters have come to be recognised as a picture in itself”, explains director Réka Bucsi. Beyond all universal notions of love, in this film she depicts situations, moments, and tableaux vivants that with humour and surreal imagery - and along with the constellations of the stars themselves, give space to love. The stars circle round each other, the leaves spin the horses standing on them until they fall. The act of dissolving oneself in another is fulfilled by Narcissus when he lowers himself to the water. In every dark there is light. And every black is saturated with colour. The stars twinkle."

Réka Bucsi is a Hungarian independent animation filmmaker and illustrator, born in Germany’s Filderstadt in 1988. During 2008-2013, she attended the animation department of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest. Her graduation film Symphony No. 42 premiered at the 64th Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin, Berlinale Shorts Competition. In 2011-2012, she attended Essemble, the Digital Filmmaking Training Programme.
In 2013-2014, Bucsi attended Animation Sans Frontiéres (ASF), the European Animation Production Workshop. She currently works on her new short film at the Residency Program of Open Workshop in Viborg, Denmark.
