The Golden Globe, Oscar and BAFTA winning ‘San of Saul’ director’s second movie is set in Budapest before the World War I. The young Irisz Leiter (Juli Jakab) arrives in the Hungarian capital with high hopes to work as a milliner at the legendary hat store that belonged to her late parents. She is nonetheless sent away by the new owner, Oszkár Brill (Vlad Ivanov). While preparations are under way at the Leiter hat store, to host guests of uttermost importance, a man abruptly comes to Irisz, looking for a certain Kálmán Leiter. Refusing to leave the city, the young woman follows Kálmán’s tracks, her only link to a lost past. Her quest brings her through the dark streets of Budapest, where only the Leiter hat store shines, into the turmoil of a civilization on the eve of its downfall.

'Sunset' was premiered in competition at the Mostra festival, the North American premiere was held on 8 September at Toronto IFF. „The intensity of Sunset is unmistakable, confirming Nemes's extraordinary talent in this sophomore film.” (PIERS HANDLING, Toronto IFF) The UK premiere will be hosted by the BFI London Film Festival’s Official Competition in October. 

SUNSET will be released in Hungary by Mozinet on 27 September. Produced by Laokoon Filmgroup (Hungary) and Playtime (France), with the support of the Hungarian National Film Fund, SUNSET was made on a budget of €9 million ($10.4 million).
