PILATE wins 5 at MIFF Awards

Pilate received 5 Leonardo Da Vinci's Horse Awards in Milan including Best Film, Best Directing to Linda Dombrovszky, Best Acting Performance Female to Ildikó Hámori, Best Cinematography to Dávid Hartung and Best Editing to Áron Mezei.

On 29th January the Award Ceremony was held after an exclusive Pilate screening attended by the winners, Ábel Köves among them, the producer of the film, who took the award for Best Film.  

The mother loves her daughter; the daughter loves her mother. The tragedy of misunderstood love. The adaptation of Magda Szabó's novel translated into twelve languages.” Hungarian TV film Pilate was produced by Cross Dot Film with the support of the Hungarian Media Patronage Program.

Members of the Leonardo da Vinci Film Society, the Hungarian consul, screenwriters of the film and the Italian translator of the novel all attended the screening (Magda Szabó’s novel which the film is based on won Anfora Centroeuropa Award in Italy in 2007) as well as Adriano Giannini Italian actor (Dolina, The Consequences of Love), the star of Il quadro alle tue spalle that won in Best Short Film category.   Screenwriters of Pilate (György Somogyi, Sándor Szélesi) were also among the nominees, just like Anna Györgyi (Best Acting Performance Female).   Milan International Film Festival and Awards established 19 years ago is a prestigious film event in Italy, where the members of Leonardo da Vinci Film Society select the winners of the Leonardo Da Vinci's Horse Awards.  

Nominees for Best Editing included 3-times Oscar winner Walter Murch (Apocalypse Now, The Godfather, The English Patient). Last year Bertolucci and Vittorio Storaro, before that Claudia Cardinale got the Da Vinci Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as Peter Falk, Danny De Vito, Renée Zellweger and Steven Soderbergh.
