Ildikó Enyedi is to direct for the big screen again

The Hungarian National Film Fund has recently awarded Ildikó Enyedi 420 million HUF film production support to produce her latest film, On Body and Soul. The romantic melodrama is set in four seasons and shooting commences in early spring this year with the theatrical release planned for early 2016.

Having previously directed My 20th Century, The Magic Hunter and Simon The Magician, Enyedi’s latest film project is an unusual love story set in the everyday world. The plot of On Body and Soul is based around the duality of sleeping and waking, mind and matter. “What would happen if you met someone, who dreamt the same as you or, to be more precise, had been meeting you in the same world every night for years? Would you be pleased? Or would you feel that you had been in some way robbed? And what if this specific individual didn’t exactly appeal to you? What if you actually hated that person?” – Ildikó Enyedi said when speaking about her new film project. Máté Herbai is the director of photography and casting is now in the closing stages.

After making a series of films at the Balázs Béla Stúdió, Ildikó Enyedi went on to direct My 20th Century, for which she was awarded the Camera d’Or at Cannes Film Festival for the best first film in 1989. She has collected more than 40 international film awards during her career to date. She recently directed Therapy, HBO drama series’ Hungarian version, for which she jointly won the Film and TV Critics’ Best Television Director Award along with Attila Gigor in 2013.

On Body and Soul is produced by András Muhi and Mónika Mécs' Inforg-M&M Film.
