Born in Budapest in 1974, Pálfi made his feature debut in 2002 with Hukkle, which was invited to more than 100 festivals worldwide, winning several prestigious awards along the way including European Film Academy’s  Discovery Award.

Taxidermia, his second feature, premiered at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival, and Free Fall won three major awards at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival in 2014, including Best Director. His Master’s Voice - which prominently features the Denver skyline - is a meditative drama based on a 1968 sci-fi novel by Stanislaw Lem that asks unsettling questions about our hunger for connection, be it with aliens or our own loved ones. Late Denver Film Artistic Director Brit Withey was a great admirer of György Pálfi’s distinctive works and eccentric sensibilities. With support from the Brit Withey Artistic Director Fund, Denver Film Festival will screen Hukkle, Free Fall, and His Master’s Voice at DFF42 with György Pálfi appearing in person.

This year’s Denver Film Festival will run Oct. 30 through Nov. 10 with more than 250 films, industry panels, awards and tributes. Denver Film Festival established in 1978, is the largest premiere film celebration in the Rocky Mountain Region.
