Hungarian cinematographers in an Indiewire survey

Two young Hungarian cinematographers have been selected in a survey on cameras and lenses used to shoot the most 32 critically acclaimed films of the year.

The survey asked DOP-s why these particular lenses and cameras were the right tools to create the visual language of their respective films. Mátyás Erdély (Son of Saul - Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards) talked about The Nest (dir. Sean Durkin) which was shot on 35 mm colour film. Marcell Rév (Euphoria) also used a 35 mm film camera but with a black and white film to shoot Malcolm and Marie (directed by Sam Levinson) released on Netflix. According to the suggestion of the DOPs both productions have chosen Hungarian Filmlab to create a 35 mm film print.
